How I survived job loss during the pandemic – With pizza
Like many others I lost my job during the pandemic.
I had bills to pay, the government wasn’t helping much, so I still had to make money.
I’ve always loved pizza and was good at making it, so one night while eating some homemade doughy goodness, I had the idea – Try to make my own little pizza restaurant from my own home…
It seemed stupid and desperate. But I guess necessity is the drive you need sometimes.
I made Instagram and Facebook pages. Added my home as a restaurant on Google. I gave away pizza in the beginning in exchange for Google and FB business reviews, and shout outs on Instagram to build an initial following.
And orders came in from there. It turns out people love homemade pizza over crappy fast-food alternatives.
It’s doing reasonably well, and helping me do a bit more than just survive. I’m even looking to launch a second only business now.
Keep hustling. Stay hungry.
